I began my career as a stage manager, working on tours and at different repertory theatres across the country and (occasionally) internationally, progressing to production and technical management.
My interest become very community focussed, and you can see much of my work became about engaging people beyond the theatre venues – whether site-specific (such as BMW’s Mini factory!), community tours, or outdoor performances (you can find out more about my site-specific work here). It also included using the arts to engage business. This focus around community engagement later led to becoming Chief executive of The Play House, an educational theatre charity, and a broader interest in the Third Sector as a whole.
